Tankii Mineral Insulated Cable (MI cable), comprising a metal sheath in which the conductors are embedded in highly compressed magnesium oxide insulation.
Usually, the conductors (copper or thermocouple wires) are embedded in MgO and pressed into a metal tube made of oxidation and corrosion resistant material.
The entire combination is then rolled under pressure to achieve the desired diameter.
Magnesium oxide makes an excellent electrical insulation material because it resists oxidation and ionizing radiation, and it is both chemically and physically stable at high temperatures.
The outer sheath protects the internal conductor from heat, chemical or other environmental damage.
Tankii MI cables are designed for high-temperature applications and used wherever in a particularly strict requirements with regard to mechanical, chemical and electrical stability.
